Karin, children Anton, 14, Filip, 11, and Viktor, 10, their father Lars Eriksson and her sister Maria all survived.
As incredible as it might seem, all the people in the photograph survived the monster wave.
The woman who can be seen running into the water is Karin Svard a 37 year old Swedish police officer and mother of three.The family were tossed around under water and finally ended up in the tree line clinging onto branches.
Ms Svard came forward to say the family was alright after pictures of what seemed their imminent deaths were flashed around the globe.
